There are six different styles of thinking:

1. Postulational – rational and idealistic, 
2. Self-evident truth – fairly rational and idealistic, 
3. Method of authority – fairly rational and idealistic, 
4. Literary – informal and interpretative, 
5. Untested opinion – Very informal and fairly idealistic and finally, 
6. there is the scientific method which is empirical and rational.
