Three basic steps in strategy formulation

  1. Formulation of strategic goals – the long term goals developed from the mission of the firm;

  2. Environmental and organizational analysis – an assessment of threats and opportunities presenting themselves from the environments within which the business operates, and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the firm; and

  3. The matching of organizations and environments for purpose of evaluation.
