  1. Identifying the current and potential want that exist within a market.

  2. Identify characteristics that distinguish among the segment.

  3. Determine the size of the segment and how will the are being satisfied.

Conditions

  1. Basis are measurable

  2. Market segment is accessible / reachable

  3. Large enough to get profit.
