Speaker-centered presentations are presentations that preclude establishing a rapport with the audience. It is based on memorization and is conducted by reading from a script and/or by relating a memorized script to an audience. Extemporaneous presentations are audience centered and are conducted using short notes with a sentence outline strategy to indicate the main points. The main points are fixed sequentially in the speaker’s mind; however, the presentation allows for greater flexibility regarding audience interaction. The speaker is allowed to react and alter his presentation slightly in order to adapt to the reactions of the audience. It is usually a good idea to have hand-out notes for the audience when conduction an extemporaneous presentation.
